On May 16, 2023, the Turkish Statistical Institute revealed that housing sales across Turkey declined by 35.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, amounting to 85,652 homes. While the Russians topped the list of buyers with about 817 homes, the state of Istanbul got the highest share in home sales with 13,844 homes, or 16.3%, followed by Ankara with 10,000 homes for sale and a share of 11.7%, and Izmir with 4,960 homes for sale and a share of 5.8%. Hakkari comes last on the list, with only 22 homes sold.
Today, official Turkish data indicates a decrease in home sales to foreigners, by 60.3 percent in April, compared to the same month of the previous year, amounting to 2,755 units. From then Mersin sold 186 houses
According to the nationality of the country, most home sales were made to citizens of Russia. In April, Russians bought 817 homes in Turkey. They were followed by the Iranians with 377 homes, the Ukrainians with 136 homes, and the Iraqis with 124 homes.
